Orange County ACCE Members Call on Garden Grove City Council to Comply with State Housing Laws
9 March 2010
On Tuesday, March 9, over forty members of Orange County ACCE filled the Garden Grove Council Chambers to call on the city to comply with California housing and redevelopment laws. Long-time residents of a Garden Grove mobile home park, many of whom work in local service and tourism industries, are organizing to fight for their homes.
Last year, the city approved plans to raze the property and build a luxury hotel and water park, as part of the city's efforts to draw business from the nearby Disneyland tourist district. The city's original plans included no intention of replacing the homes as required by state law.
